History and development of BMG International
Ultrasound Academy LLC was established in 2022 in Tbilisi, Georgia, by Dr Fikria Rekhviashvili, MD, PhD, Radiologist and Ultrasound Diagnostics Specialist, and Tatia Kapanadze, Healthcare Manager. The Academy was founded with the shared vision of creating a high-quality professional education platform that connects clinical expertise with modern approaches to healthcare education and management.
Dr Rekhviashvili brings more than 25 years of clinical and teaching experience in radiology and ultrasound diagnostics, while Tatia Kapanadze contributes expertise in healthcare management and in the development, coordination and delivery of educational and professional training programmes for healthcare professionals, hospitals and clinical organisations.
Since its establishment, the Academy has expanded its activities from specialised ultrasound education to a broader portfolio encompassing continuing medical education, practical and simulation-based training, healthcare and clinical management, quality improvement, medical communication and professional development. An important area of growth has been cooperation with international experts and professional organisations, enabling the Academy to introduce internationally recognised knowledge, educational approaches and standards to the Georgian healthcare community.
The Academy’s mission is to strengthen the competencies of healthcare professionals and managers through accessible, evidence-based and practice-oriented education. Its long-term vision is to become a recognised regional centre for clinical and healthcare management education, international professional collaboration and continuous professional development in Georgia and the wider region.
The story of the founder
Ultrasound Academy LLC was founded and is led by Dr Fikria Rekhviashvili, MD, PhD, and Tatia Kapanadze, Healthcare Manager, whose complementary clinical, educational and managerial expertise has shaped the Academy’s multidisciplinary approach to professional healthcare education.
Dr Fikria Rekhviashvili is an experienced radiologist and ultrasound diagnostics specialist with more than 25 years of clinical and teaching experience. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in medical education, professional training and the advancement of ultrasound practice in Georgia. She is the first ISUOG Ambassador in Georgia, reflecting her contribution to strengthening professional education and promoting international standards in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. Her professional mission is centred on improving clinical competencies through evidence-based education, practical training and international knowledge exchange.
Tatia Kapanadze is a healthcare manager specialising in the development, coordination and implementation of educational and professional development programmes for healthcare professionals. Her expertise encompasses healthcare and clinical management, continuing professional education, training programme development, international partnerships and organisational development. Within Ultrasound Academy, she leads the development and expansion of educational initiatives and strategic cooperation with professional organisations.
Together, the founders aim to develop Ultrasound Academy into a strong regional platform connecting clinical excellence, healthcare management, professional education and international collaboration, while contributing to higher standards of healthcare delivery in Georgia and the wider region.
